1. What types of account can I open with DHS?

Custodian Account

  • Hong Kong and foreign stocks trading
  • Trading channels include Broker and/or other Online channels
  • Full payment of trade proceeds on the settlement date is required
Online Custodian Account
  • Hong Kong stocks trading only
  • ALL Online channels
  • Adequate cleared fund and stock must be available before your order is processed
  • Full payment of trade proceeds on the settlement date is required
Margin Account
  • Hong Kong stocks trading only
  • Trading channels include Broker and/or other Online channels
  • Subject to individual stock's marginable value, full payment of trade proceeds might not be required on the settlement date
Commodities Account
  • Index Futures trading
  • Broker only
  • You must open an account with Dao Heng Commodities Limited (DHC) for futures trading (Hang Seng Index Futures, Mini-Hang Seng Index Futures and H-Share Index Futures). Please call our Customer Services Hotline at (852) 2218-2818 for details

2. How do I open an account with DHS?

To open a securities trading account, you can
1.Visit our office and complete the Account Opening Form at our Customer Services counter.

Please bring along with you your
  • identification document (e.g. Hong Kong ID Card or passport) and
  • residential address proof, e.g. bank statements, utility bills etc.
  • 2.Visit our website to fill out the Account Opening Form online

    Simply click into Online Account Opening and follow the instructions. After completion of the Online Account Opening Form, you can visit us in person or send the application to our office with all relevant documents.

    3. What are the required supporting documents?

    To open an account with DHS, please provide the following supporting documents:

    For individual/joint account:

    • A copy of Identity document (e.g. Hong Kong I.D. card, passport, etc.) of each applicant; and
    • Proof of home address (e.g. utility bills, Tax Assessment, Government Rates Demand Note, etc.) of each applicant.
    • A personal cheque (with your name pre-printed on it) in favour of "Dao Heng Securities Limited" of not less than HK$10,000 drawn on a licensed bank in Hong Kong and bearing the same signature as in the Account Opening Document. (apply to account opening which is not witnessed by a DHS Staff or a recognised professional personnel.)

    For corporate account, certified true copies of all of the followings will be required:

    • Identity card copy of all Authorised persons
    • Business Registration
    • Certificate of Incorporation
    • Memorandum & Articles of Association
    • Board resolution for the opening of the account
    • Letter of Guarantee from an individual
    • Latest audited account or other types of financial information
    • Most recent Annual Return to Company Registrar

    4. Do I need to make any initial deposit to open an account?

    No. However, if you are unable to open an account with us face-to-face, you will need to send in a personal cheque with amount not less than HK$10,000 for identification verification purpose. For details, please refer to FAQ#3.

    5. Are there any charges related to maintaining an account at DHS?

    Half-yearly Custody Fee or Account Handling Fee will be billed to Custodian or Margin Account. Exemption will be granted to Account under pre-defined criteria. For details, please refer to the "Fees & Charges" section under "Our Services".

    6. If I do not reside in Hong Kong, can I open an account to trade via the Internet?

    Our Internet service was designed only for use by Hong Kong residents in Hong Kong. Any other use may be subject to applicable legal and/or regulatory constraints. If you open an Online Custodian Account with us, make sure you are solely responsible for ensuring you are in compliance with all laws and regulations where you reside and from which you use the services provided.

    However, we do not accept Online Custodian Account applications from foreign corporate bodies.
