* To set the Character Set according to the table above:
- The user needs to click the QPI logo (the circle with an arrow besides the Chinese and alarm buttons at the bottom left-hand corner)
- Choose Unicode or Big 5 under Character Set
- Click OK.
- Click the Chinese button now, then Chinese
will be shown.

Note:
Such settings need to be set ONCE only; next time user opens 'QuotePower-Web', simply press the Chinese button to read Chinese.
2. How can I clear the disk cache of my browser?
Since the cache holds the contents of all the pages that you have visited during the session, it may become full easily. You need to clear the cache regularly to improve the browser performance.
For Internet Explorer Users:
- From the toolbar at the top of the browser, select "View" / "Tools".
- Choose "Internet Options". (For I.E. 5.0 or above, "Internet Options" will be found under "Tools".)
- Under the page "General", locate the part "temporary Internet files".
- Click on "Delete files".
- Click "OK" on the question prompted.
- Click "OK" again to close the Internet Options window.
- Restart I.E. to make the changes effective.
For Netscape Communicator Users:
- From the toolbar at the top of the browser, select "Edit".
- Choose "Preferences".
- Click the "Advanced" category and select "Cache".
- Click the "Clear Disk Cache" button and the "Clear Memory Cache" button.
- Click "OK".
- Restart Netscape Communicator to make the
changes effective.
3. There is no sound when the price alert window pops out. Why?
Please check whether the box before the "Sound" is selected.
If the box is already checked and your speakers are turned on but you still cannot hear the price alert alarm, please check the sound settings.
To check the sound settings:
- Go to "Control Panel".
- Double click "Sound".
- Check whether the sound for "Default Sound" has been set.
- If there is no tiny sound icon in front of
"Default Sound", please set it by choosing the type of sound from the
drop-down menu below. If set, a tiny sound icon should appear on the
screen.
4. How can I see the daily charts for the Hang Seng index, Hang Seng Futures, forex and world Indices?
Click the "Symbol Directory" button. The Indices, futures, forex, etc. are represented by codes, i.e. HSI for Hang Seng Index Futures, XJPY for Japanese yen,I.DJIA for Down Jones Industrial Average, etc. All thses codes can be used in both the "Portfolio" page and "Chart Analysis" page.
When you go to the Portfolio page, you can type HSI,X.JPY, etc. into the 25 spaces after you press "Quote Box". You will be able to see their prices.
In the "Chart Analysis" page, you can also type in HSI, I.DJIA, etc. into the space at the top left-hand corner where you usually type in your stock codes, you'll be able to see different charts.
5. Can I adjust those study tools in the "Chart Analysis" page I wish?
You are free to set your own parameters for simple moving averages, relative strength index, moving average converegency/divergency and Stochastics. When you press the button with a hammer and screwdriver in our "Chart Analysis" page, you will be able to set the ays for the above study tools.
6. How can I see the name of brokers in the Bid/Ask Broker Queues?
You can point your mouse at the broker number in the Bid/Ask Broker Queue and click on it once to reveal the broker name. You can even double-click to jump to the "Broker Search" page.
7. What is the information shown under the Bid/Ask Columns (#Announcement-P.5654/P.6616, #Suspended-P.5665, etc.)?
They are the page reference numbers released by the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong indicating special news such as announcements or stock suspension. You cannot see such information by typing in those page numbers.
Alternatively, you can find such news in our "Financial News" page. To do this, type in the stock number, then click on the "Financial News" button. Choose "SEHK" and "Filtered by Company", and you will be able to see news related to that particular stock. (This works for MOST news, but some items may not be shown due to either those listed companies' failure to submit such news to the Stock Exchange or the Stock Exchange's failure to release the information).
8. Why can't I see the "Company Profile" / "Symbol Directory" page?
When you are using Quote Power-Web, you need to keep the previous window "please wait while loading Quote Power-Wed Full version..." open; if you switch it off, the windows for "Company Profile" and "Symbol Directory" pages will not pop up.
9. Is there a PRINT function on your site?
Yes, you will be able to print the charts and news. You can print such items by clicking the printer icon on top of the "Charts" and "News" pages.
