1. Why does it display "This application has performed an illegal operation"?

These could be the reasons:

  • PC short of RAM
If you have too many programs running at the same time, your PC may be running out of RAM. Please reboot your PC and try again. If the message prompts up again, you may have to clear the cache memory of your browser.
  • Usage of Chinese viewers
Some Chinese viewers e.g. Unionway may also cause this problem. Please try to log in before running the Chinese viewer. For more information with the way to view Chinese with DHS, please click here for more details.

2. Why am I getting the message "Another user users your account"?

AnotherUser.jpg

This message pops out when someone else is accessing your account at the same time you are using it. Simply close this message box and log in again. To prevent unauthorised access to your account, you may change your login password from time to time.

3. The text/ characters of the HK Info Page and the HKFE Page are not properly aligned. Why?

NotAligned.JPG

The characters are not correctly aligned because of the default font settings of your browser. To change the settings, you may follow the steps below:

  1. Click into the "Property Box"

  2. Choose the other type of font for "fixed-width font" and click "OK".

4. Why is the response so slow when I switch from one stock code to another?

Try the following:

5. I am unable to print an entire chart when I use the print function in your real time quotes application. Why?

If you are able to print almost the whole chart except for the right hand portion, please set the orientation of paper to "Landscape" in the "Printer Properties" setting before you print.

However, Internet Explorer 4.0 is not compatible with some printer drivers. If this is the case, the paper comes out as nearly blank. You may upgrade your Internet Explorer to version 5.0 or above or use Netscape Communicator instead. If you need newer versions of browsers, please click here for details.

Note:
For Netscape Communicator, after you've pressed the print button, a Java Security window will pop up. Please choose "Grant" to print.

For Internet Explorer, no such Java security will be shown, but if the security level (from Internet Options) has been set at "High", the print function will not work either. Please set the Security Level to medium or low.

6. I type and receive a message that the site certificate has expired. Why is that?

This is a message that pops out when you enter a site that uses encryption to protect transmitted information. You may decide whether to accept this certification or not.

If you already accepted this certificate some time ago, you might have to accept it again because the old certificate has expired.
